I'll remember the 01/11 for a long time. What perfect day to start back training for our Autumn programme. The sun was shining and everyone was on great form. We had 33 athletes and trainees all working very hard with the 5 coaches.
As ever we covered all levels of skiing levels, but the goal is the same for all of the skiers. Malcolm was working on the basic stance and balance skills with Development Group 4, as was I with Performance Group 1. The difficulty of the drill changes, but the skill and lesson remains exactly the same. Malcolm challenged the skiers in Dev 4 with jumping skills and changes of direction, whilst I challenged the Perf Squad (and myself) with short swings on one ski. A great laugh and we all learned something.
As ever, the team races during the last hour was a highlight. Thanks to Lynne for sorting out the teams. The teams are based on the timings from previous sessions, so the races were far more even this week. It was a close competition. In the end we had a draw between Malcolm and Nick's Team. Nick's team was however victorious on their head to head, so he takes the honours.
All the best times are published below, but it's enough to say that one of the oldest on the hill was the fastest on Sunday. Life in the old dog yet. : )
