Our main intake is at the start of our training year in August and run through to just before Christmas on the dry mat facility in Alford. In early January we move our coaching to The Lecht for the snow season and, conditions permitting, run training and race support every weekend until the end of March.
New for 2017 Gordon Skiers will be extending coaching sessions until just before the summer holidays. Traditionally we stopped after the Scottish snow season but given the number of indoor and artificial mat races running through the spring, and the demand we have had from members we will be offering weekly coaching venues in addition to supporting the main races.
We will also be introducing more "drop in" training sessions at home and away, on mats, indoors and snow to satisfy demand.
Our membership has an age limit of 6 years old, the Lecht can be a pretty hostile environment at times and skiers younger than this may struggle skiing for a whole day without parental support.
As far as skiing is concerned, the youngest skiers must be able to handle the Eagle 1 & 2, the Osprey and the Grouse Pomas at the Lecht and ski in control with good snowplough turns. As age increases the standards we expect will obviously increase. The final decision rests with the coaches. If for any reason we feel a skier is not ready for Gordon Skiers we will try and give them some feedback on areas they may want to go away and work on.
If you were unable to attend our 2016 trial day in August and would still like to join us then please drop us an email address admin@gordonskiers.com so that we can arrange a trial at one of our Alford or Lecht sessions asap.
