Training 15th November, Head Coach's Report

Even the cloud and rain couldn't dampen the spirits of Gordon Skiers today.  It may have been our first wet Sunday, but everyone was on a high and didn't even seem to mind sliding around in the mud for fitness.

A big THANK YOU to Lynne today for helping out the coaches with the physical sessions and for organising such amazing looking kit. Some very smartly dressed racers on the Alford Mat today.

I'm always very impressed by the soup rota. Delicious today and the baking looked very impressive.

I've been missing out the special mentions over the last few weeks, but this week's left such an impression he deserves his name in lights.  Biggest improvement of the sessions, so far, has to go to Hamish Alexander. A couple of weeks ago he was really struggling with some of the technical drills, but he's got them nailed now. I can really see a difference his racing, as a result. Well done Haley ().

Also thanks to the DJ's for providing today's entertainment. It was all good, until Britney came on.

The racing was red hot again today. Kenny was the fastest on the hill, until he was chicked by Beth and Rachel. Well done girls. Beth has finally made the breakthrough and realised what she's been doing wrong for a while. She's been giving the coaches a hard time over her race performances, until she was spotted kicking the wand before starting. LOL, a very red faced Beth W.

The Team Races (my favourite bit) were a real laugh today. We had our first dead heat, with Andrew and James tying for the podium. It was all down to a head to head between the Team Leads and Andrew took the win. Even if James hadn't straddled the last gate, it was a win for Mr Simpson. I wonder how much faster Andrew would have been if he had metal edge on his skis. When Andrew inspected his skis, after racing, he had a 6" section of edge missing from his ski. Time for new skis Andrew.

If you haven't had booked a seat for Braehead already then please get in there quickly. Remember, priority is being given to those training at Alford. Your Alford fee is rolled into the cost, so anyone not training at Alford will need to pay an adjusted rate.

I forgot to mention at the catch up this morning, but parents are welcome to come along and ski. Even if you want to just shop, it's only £10 for the bus. If the numbers work out, we'll try to fit in some coaching for the parents.

As ever, any questions are welcome.

See You All next Sunday, Gary W
