FAST British Championships Camp in March 2015

If your child wants to attend the FAST British Championships Camp in March 2015, you need to read on!

First, welcome back to those who went to Tignes! I hear that it was a great camp and the organisation of it was absolutely excellent: many, many thanks to Dawn Waitt in particular for all her hard work which brought the camp to fruition. Also a big thank you to the houseparents, the coaching team and all the children for making the most of the two weeks, combining hard work with good fun and great attitudes all round.

Well, as you know, nothing stands still and as soon as one camp finishes you are getting an e-mail about another camp: I know that it can be a bit overwhelming, but I ask that you PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING!

The feedback from the FAST team out in Tignes is that accommodation is already getting booked-up pretty quickly for the last couple of weeks of March 2015 - this is when the British Championships are taking place. So we need to get firm numbers for the Easter camp as soon as possible: especially for those children wanting to take-up the residential option.

I sent an e-mail to you all back in June giving the dates and the four options that FAST will be offering, and many of you registered an "expression of interest". We now need firm commitments from parents on behalf of their children.

To recap, here is the timetable for the camp:

• Travel to Tignes - Saturday 21st March 2015
• First day of training Sunday 22nd March
• Alternative travel date to Tignes - Saturday 28th March
• First day of British Championship races - Monday 30th March
• Last day of British Championship races - Friday 3rd April
• All travel home - Saturday 4th April

There are four options on offer for the FAST camp:

1. Two weeks residential camp from Saturday 21st March to Saturday 4th April. Open to Children only, i.e. YoB 1999 to 2002 inclusive;
2. Two weeks on-hill camp from Saturday 21st March to Saturday 4th April. Open to Children and older Bairns, i.e. YoB 1999 to 2004 inclusive;
3. One week residential camp from 21st March to Saturday 28th March plus 1 week on-hill race cover only (non-residential) from Saturday 28th March to Saturday 4th April. Open to Children only, i.e. YoB 1999 to 2002 inclusive;
4. One week on-hill race cover only from Saturday 28th March to Saturday 4th April. Open to Children and all Bairns, i.e. YoB 1999 to 2006 inclusive.

Pricing: 

This has yet to be finalised, but it is expected that the prices will be approximately the same as for the 2014 Championships Camp:

• Two weeks residential - £2200 all inclusive
• Two weeks on-hill only - £500 excl lift pass
• One week residiential and one week on-hill - £1350 excl lift pass for second week
• One week on-hill race cover only - £250 excl lift pass.

Finally, note that the second week for all bairns will be a combination of race days and coaching days.

The time has come to make a firm commitment to one of these options if you wish to participate in the FAST British Championships 2015 camp.

For those wanting a residential option (i.e. option 1 or option 3), we need a firm commitment from you by midnight Tuesday 4 November 2014.

For those wanting an on-hill only option (i.e.option 2 or option 3), we need a firm commitment from you by midnight Tuesday 25 November 2014.

Please note: Children ( i.e. YoB 1999 to 2002 inclusive) must have a BASS seed point rating of 400 or less to race at the British Championships. If you do not meet this criterion by the closing date for race applications (which will likely to be in March 2015) you will not be accepted to race at the British Championships and you will not be able to participate in this FAST camp.

First year children who currently fail to meet the points criterion will have to demonstrate how this will be achieved prior to the camp.

There is no BASS seed point rating for bairns.
