Gordon Skiers Open

Hi folks

Sorry it has taken so long to produce the report on last weekend's racing but at least the lack of training this weekend has allowed a little catch-up time.

It was great to see so many of our skiers turning out for our home races, many racing for the first time and putting up some strong performances that belied their lack of experience.  Given the challenging courses, with a full (close to) 50 gate course for the BASS racers and a mix of GS and combi courses for the younger racers  34 out of a possible 40 skiers is a great turnout.

It is always difficult to pick out performances when so many deserve praise but here goes.

Top of the pile on Saturday has to be Kieran Troup (pictured above) who won the U16 boys from a strong entry. Mention should also go to Andrew Simpson who finished 7th.   Iain Campbell finished 2nd in the U18 boys.  In the U8 Bairns race Lennon Allardyce skied strongly to finish 3rd whilst in U10 Nathan Smith just pipped Ben Whatford for 4th place with Harry Pfleger close behind in 7th.  In U12 Ryan Pye skied strongly to finish 6th.

In the girls on Saturday we had a strong presence in the U16 age group with Tabby Allan just pipping Rachel Brown for 4th place by 2.55 seconds over the two runs whilst Hannah Morrison was a little further back in 7th.  In the U14 girls Amelia Allan skied well to finish in 5th.  In the Bairns Izzy Pfleger did well to finish in 6th in the U10, whilst Phoebe Allan finished 4th in U12.

Sunday again saw a string of strong performances with podium finishes for Amelia Allan with 2 firsts in U14 girls, Rachel Brown 2nd in U16 girls, Ben Whatford 2nd in U10 boys, Lennon Allardyce 2nd in U8 boys and Phoebe Allan in 3rd in U12 girls.

Finally many thanks to all the parents for all their support without whom the races could not have been run and these results would not have been achieved.
