Scottish Dry Slope Championships, Hillend, Edinburgh

Just back from a fabulous weekend at the Scottish Dry Slope Championships in Edinburgh.  Two runs of slalom on Saturday followed by 2 runs of GS today, the second runs on both days featuring pretty challenging courses.

Five Gordon Skiers went down, Andrew and Neil Simpson representing the boys and Rachel Brown, Hannah Morrison and Ellie Green for the girls.

There were some great performances in the slalom on Saturday with Rachel and Andrew both finishing fourth in their age groups and Neil coming in a very creditable 7th in the under 14 in his first year in the age band.   Hannah completed two clean runs to finish 8th in a very competitive under 16 age group.  Ellie skied out in her first run but did well to complete a clean second run after the first 3 forerunners all crashed out!

Sunday saw some sunshine for a change, there were two challenging courses, especially on the steep top section. Outstanding result of the weekend was Rachel breaking 30 seconds on the first run followed by an excellent second run to go one place better than Saturday with third under 16 (a result that cost her mother a very fine POC hat !! : ) ).  All the skiers skied strongly to register results, Ellie and Hannah both completing two clean runs to register results.  Andrew posted a strong second run time after a slip in the first run whilst Neil is clearly intent on catching his elder brother!

Many thanks go to Jamie Robertson who stood in at literally the eleventh hour as coach support and gave valuable advice and support to the skiers.
