Braehead Sunday 29th November
A quick update on the Braehead trip. Firstly numbers are rising fast, we are up to 20 skiers and have a 45 seat coach so get your names in fast.
For the few who have put there name in who are not attending dry mat this autumn there will be a supplement to pay towards the coaching fees.
Drop-off and pick-up will be in Westhill as that is the most central point for all our members. We have access to a car park where those parents travelling can leave cars for the day. Details to follow.
So if you are wanting to come to Snowfactor, get your names in ASAP.

Gordon Skiers Secondhand Ski Sale, Sunday 8th November at Alford Ski Centre, 9.30AM
Just a quick reminder that next Sunday the 8th November is our second hand ski sale for any skis, boots, ski clothing etc. Bring along all your surplus ski gear and see if you can find it a new home. (Wilma, this is your opportunity to just bring along the entire contents of the garage!!)
For new members this is a great opportunity to pick up Gordon Skiers suits etc, kit is often in good condition and is only on sale because the owner has grown out of it rather than being worn out! (the clothing not the owner that is!)
See you all on Sunday

Snowsport Scotland Off Hill Training
We have received this message from Louise Kochalski Snowsport Scotland Development Officer regarding fitness training sessions that they have set up. These sessions are appropriate for U14 and above skiers in our performance squads. Apologies for the lateness of this information.
For more information see the attached document.
Gary
As most of you know Ben Kinnear and I have been working on putting into place a support programme to compliment the fantastic work the clubs and centres are doing on the hill. The idea being that we, as Snowsport Scotland, are in the best position to oversee a programme to help all athletes in the region regardless of what club you belong to or discipline you take part in.
In addition to top end coaching at the heart of what we are trying to achieve is a clear and transparent pathway of what support sessions an athlete can access depending on their age and ability levels. Each step clearly building from the last. Please have a look at the attached document, the diagram is supposed to provide a clear obvious pathway – I would welcome any feedback.
In terms of getting started, things have taken a lot longer than planned BUT I am pleased to say we’re ready to go with S&C session A starting next Monday 14th September (I know this is very short notice but I hope you, as Head Coaches or Team Managers can work with me to get the message out to the relevant athletes/parents). All details are in the attached document, but if you have any questions please ask. For athletes to book into a block of S&C (or eventually gymnastics) please have them email myself and coach or team manager. All payments should be made to Veronica in the Snowsport Scotland office (incidentally she’s not in today for anyone particularly efficient).
Lastly we welcome attendance by any coaches at the sessions, it’s great to have extra hands and also fantastic CPD for a lot of coaches out there, all I ask is coaches let me know in advance if they are coming along.
Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks
Louise

Snow Trials
Hut Etiquette and Evacuation Procedures!
Can we bring your attention to a few areas that were discussed at the committee meeting last week.
Firstly can we ask all parents and skiers to read the page on hut etiquette. Can we particularly bring to your attention the following areas.
- Evacuation procedure. Committee members to take responsibility for locking the hut. All members to sign out their children even in the event of evacuation.
- A radio will be left in the hut for any latecomers as training will start at 9am prompt. This radio can be used by the parent to contact a coach. A whiteboard will also be used for the training groups showing which piste the groups will be on.
- Hut Etiquette. A post needs to be put on the blog reminding members of the club etiquette especially with regard to trainees having space to sit down during breaks, tidying up, the provision of toilet rolls and donations for coffee tea etc.

Email from Graham Mounsey, Snowsport Scotland
We also have a dedicated page on the FindTransfers website. FindTransfers allows you to specify your transfer requirements and then sends your requests to local, independent taxi and airport taxi companies. You then receive a quote based on your requirements and you can choose to book with the best local company and is a good way of saving money and time when looking at transfers.
To compare prices and book a transfer visit http://www.findtransfers.com/snowsportscotland
Many thanks and have a great weekend, Graham

Hi everyone,
Now that we are into December and the prospect of a bit of snow skiing is looming on the horizon I thought it would be appropriate to go through some of the basics about our club hut for those of you who are new to the snow training, and to remind everyone else about them.
For more info please go to the Hut Etiquette page.

Christmas Raffle Prizes
Many of you will have noticed that we have not had are usual Ceilidh this year. We had hoped to hold it in the autumn season however we have just not had the resources to organise it. As a result we have lost one of our main fundraisers.
To make up for this we are planning to have a raffle at the Christmas Lunch. We are looking for donations of prizes so if you, your employer or any friends could donate any prizes they would be gratefully received.

Housekeeping Notices
Following our committee meeting after training today there are a number of housekeeping notices.
- Parents, please sign your skiers out at the end of training, we need to know who has been collected for your children's safety. Whilst signing out has improved it is far from perfect and there are some recidivists out there!
- Can all skiers please use the changing rooms to change. The centre has asked us to ensure nobody changes in the hallway as this has been blocking fire escapes in breach of fire regulations. This is for our safety. There are no football teams using the changing rooms on a Sunday morning at present so we do have sole use.
- We are looking for parent helpers to help with running the fitness sessions. Please offer your help to Gary and he will put you in contact with the coaches running the fitness sessions.
- We still have an issue with parents of the younger skiers not being present at mid-morning break to help them change into and out of skiing gear, If they are not able to do this themselves, you need to be there to help them please.
Committee Members Needed
Finally and most importantly, we are in need of committee members. We have lost 3 committee members (through no fault of theirs or ours!) mainly due to relocation away from Grampian. We are looking for a Sponsorship convenor and two ordinary members. If you want to know what is involved speak to any of the committee members and if you wish to offer your services please speak to Graeme Brown the chairman.
