2015 Gordon Skiers AGM Report

The Gordon Skiers AGM took place this week at the Learney Arms, Torphins. Thanks to all who attended and contributed to the discussions and to the committee members who gave their reports following a very successful year for the club.

Major achievements included the introduction of the Gordon Skiers blog, a strengthened, highly qualified coaching team, increased numbers of athletes entering races and the establishment of performance and development squads.The GS Open at the Lecht was one of many highlights.

Gordon Skiers AGM, Final Reminder

A final reminder that it is the Gordon Skiers AGM this Thursday.  It is really important to us that we get a good turnout of our membership.  We have made a number of changes over the last season and we would really appreciate our members feedback on these.  There are also potentially further changes over the coming year so this is your opportunity to influence the direction your club is taking.

It would be really good if every family could commit to having one family member attending and don't worry, we have enough volunteers to fill all the committee posts so you won't be in danger of getting a job unless you are particularly looking for one!

Gordon Skiers AGM, Learney Arms Hotel, Torphins, 18th June.

A really important date for your diary.  Our AGM will take place on Thursday 18th June at 7.30 pm at the Learney Arms Hotel in Torphins.

This is your opportunity to influence the running of your club.  We have made a number of changes over the last year with the Performance Squad, new website and communications strategy etc etc. This is your chance to feed back to us how it has worked for you and how you would like to see things moving forward.

It would be great to see at least one member of each family at the meeting. This is an advance notice to allow you all to make a space in your diaries, an agenda will be posted nearer the time.

Please note that this date is different to the one previously published after our last committee meeting in March due to availability of the venue

First Meeting of The New Committee

The new Gordon Skiers committee met for the first time last week and thought you might like to hear some of our plans. As the new chairperson I am very lucky to have such enthusiastic folk working with me on the committee. The 3 main priorities agreed were coaching, sponsorship and communications. For those of you who have seen me skiing, you will be relieved to hear that Gary Whatford will be coaching the kids on our new coaching programmes. Gary will take on the combined roles of coaching convenor and head coach for next season (no pressure!). He is developing a performance squad and a development squad. More details will be circulated soon regarding this.

AGM, Learney Arms Torphins, May 29th 2014

Many thanks to all who came along to our AGM on Thursday night.  A really good turnout.  Thanks to all the officers for their reports, we will upload them for you all to read.

John Allan stood down as chairman.  Huge thanks to John for all his hard work and thanks to Graeme Brown for picking up the baton as the new chairman of Gordon Skiers.  Also taking up roles on the committee are Nicky Pye as Membership Secretary and myself, Paul Green as Communications.  James Paxton and Gary Whatford have kindly agreed to stay on for another year as Race and Training Conveners respectively.

It was agreed that the athletes liaison officer would be elected by the athletes themselves at the start of the dry mat season.

On a sadder note, Carrie Will has stood down as head coach.  Thanks to Carrie for her hard work over the season, I for one can testify for her effectiveness as head coach.  She will be missed and will be a hard act to follow.
